It facilitates access to electronic, hardcopy and full text information resources and datasets to ensure the utilisation of research results ensure/support enhanced interoperable technologies and innovation.
Records & Documents Management (R&DM)
R&DM is a corporate support function that contributes towards good governance, accountability and transparency throughout an organisation. NRF as a government entity is compelled to account for its actions and decisions through auditing process, PAIA request, etc. Compliance with legislation such as the National Archives and Records Service of South Africa Act, PAIA, PFMA, King Report III, etc. is therefore a must , not a choice. It is through proper care and management of its records that NRF can mitigate possible risks against litigation, improve knowledge preservation and sharing, etc.
Communities of Practice (COPs)
The Communities of Practice function seeks to elevate the NRF to a knowledge-based organisation rooted in best practices and excellence in knowledge management, by enabling the NRF staff and the broader community and the Diaspora to learn, apply and adapt global knowledge to their own situation through knowledge networks and a collaborative platform. The South African Network of Skills Abroad (SANSA) database is used within the academia and NSI and government departments to source diaspora related data.
