Organisational Structure

The National Research Foundation (NRF) is led by its President and CEO, Dr Albert van Jaarsveld. 

The NRF consists of three divisions (see Figure 1), namely (1) Research and Innovation, Support and Advancement (RISA) which constitutes the research support and promotion agency of the NRF; and (2) The South African Agency for Science and Technology Advancement (SAASTA) which provides and manages cross cutting activities that advances science and technology into various communities in South Africa. These two divisions are led by Dr Gansen Pillay. (3) The National Research Facilities that undertake research is specific research fields.

These divisions are supported by the corporate services provided by Mr Bishen Singh, Group Executive: Finance and Business Systems and Mr Patrick Thompson, Group Executive: Human Resources and Stakeholder Relationships.

The overall organisational structure is shown in Figure 2.

The structure of this website is based on the organisational structure of the NRF.
