University of Fort Hare, 05 - 06 September 2016

The Department of Science and Technology (DST), through the National Research Foundation (NRF) and in collaboration with various government sponsored renewable energy research projects including the Centre for Renewable and Sustainable Energy Studies (CRES) at the University of Stellenbosch, is hosting the Annual National Renewable and Sustainable Energy Postgraduate Symposium (REPS2016) to be held at the University of Fort Hare in Alice from 05 to 06 September 2016.

Energy Research Programme
(Hub & Spokes)

The DST and NRF are pleased to announce the Energy Research Programme Call for Ocean Energy Spoke 2015.

Revision and pre-exam session (Grade 12)

The planned revision Session in October 2014 will be of benefit to the learners as at this stage all the schools are expected to have finalised the syllabus, learners have written preliminary exams and working hard for the final examinations.

A focussed revision session will be held from 04 to 11 October 2014 for all EHCD&KG sponsored Grade 12 learners to prepare them for the final exams in Mathematics and Physical Sciences.

Winter Camp (Grade 12)

The Winter Camp is intended for Grade 12 learners from the 31 EHCD&KG sponsored Dinaledi schools and is planned for July 2014. The focus of the Winter Camp will be on Mathematics and Physical Sciences assisting learners with conceptual understanding in the core topics that they will be examined on in their final examinations in the afore-mentioned two learning areas.

Technology and Human Resources for Industry Programme (THRIP)

THRIP is a flagship research and development instrument of the dti and the NRF. THRIP is a government-academic-private sector partnership established to respond to the shortage of high-level technical skills required by industry and to improve the competitive edge of South Africa’s industry through the development of advanced technologies. Research and Technology Fund (RTF)

The Department of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries (DAFF) has entered into an agreement with the NRF to implement the RTF programme. RTF is aimed at ensuring financial and resource allocation to the agriculture, forestry and fisheries sectors for research and development in support of the vision, mission, strategic goals and objectives of the Integrated Growth and Development Plan.

Energy Research Programme (ERP)

This programme is a key instrument used to implement the DST Security and Energy Grand Challenge for the realisation of the objective of developing human capital and alternative energy technologies. The first hub-and-spokes cluster has already been established through this funding instrument, comprising a hub with three spokes focusing on wind, solar thermal and solar PV.
