The Community Engagement Funding Instrument is a competitive funding instrument, which provides the space for research that contributes both to knowledge production within the ambit of community engagement (here community is defined in its broadest sense); as well as research on the processes and dynamics of engagement from the perspective of the higher education sector. This instrument will support research that enables higher education and other NRF recognized research institutions to come to grips with some of the philosophical and conceptual challenges associated with the dynamics of community engagement and social responsiveness, as a field of research enquiry.
Applicants to the Community Engagement Funding Instrument are invited to submit applications in accordance with the strategy and eligibility criteria, as set out in the Community Engagement Framework Document, for funding commencing in 2019.
Applications should be submitted electronically on the NRF Online Submission System at https://nrfsubmission.nrf.ac.za
