The South African (SA) ICSU Secretariat serves the South African scientific community and most of the ICSU scientific unions and affiliates to which South Africa adheres. The goal of the National Board is to promote effective South African involvement in the organization of the ICSU network. South Africa is also a national member, via the NRF, of a number of ICSU Unions and Associates.

The SA ICSU Secretariat hosted by NRF provides support and administrative services for the ICSU National Board of SA, and to the SA ICSU National Committees to advance South Africa’s participation in international platforms. This call is targeted for applicants that are members of national ICSU committees.

The two types of ICSU grants supported by this call are:
Travel Grants: This investment area is to be divided into two categories:

  • Travel by South African researchers to participate in ICSU-related international conferences, workshops, relevant meetings, etc.
  • Invited foreign speakers to participate in local ICSU-related conferences and workshops.

Event Support: The support for hosting of ICSU-related events in South Africa

Applications must be submitted electronically on the NRF Online Submission System at https://nrfsubmission.nrf.ac.za - ICSU Grants for Travel and Hosting Events 2017 second call.

Only complete applications received before or on 24 October 2017 will be considered.
