The Infrastructure Bridging Funding makes available, non-interest bearing bridging funding to a maximum value of R5 million and depending on the size of the NRF grants per institution, to support the physical infrastructural requirements needed to support either the acquisition or upgrade to state-of-the art research equipment or platform research projects in strategic areas. This initiative supports the South African public universities and all public research institutions that are listed as NRF Recognized Research Institutions, including science councils, national facilities, public laboratories as well as corporations such as NECSA, with the establishment of suitable infrastructure needed for large pieces of research equipment funded through other NRF mechanisms.
For further information and should you be interested in applying for such funding, please consult the attached Framework and Funding Guide document.
All applications must be completed electronically on the NRF Online Submission System at https://nrfsubmission.nrf.ac.za and submitted to the Institution’s Research Office. Applications should be endorsed by the Deputy Vice Chancellor: Research (or equivalent) and the Chief Financial Officer (or equivalent).
The call for applications will be open from Friday, 23 February 2018 to Wednesday, 07 March 2018 for applicants.
