Call for Applications for the 2017/2018 International Travel Student Award

The South African Network for Coastal and Oceanic Research (SANCOR) is a non-statutory body that generates and communicates knowledge and advice in order to promote the informed use and management of the marine and coastal environments. SANCOR is managed by the Knowledge Fields Development Directorate of the National Research Foundation. SANCOR’s vision is: healthy marine and coastal environments, rich in opportunities for human advancement, managed on the basis of excellent information, generated through well-coordinated research and development of scientific capacity. SANCOR promotes, facilitates and co-ordinates excellence in marine and coastal research and education for the benefit of South Africa.
The SANCOR Student International Travel Award promotes and develops capacity in marine and coastal science. It is presented annually to a Ph.D. student in recognition of their work accomplished. The SANCOR International Travel Student Grant offers young marine scientists the opportunity to attend an international conference and to showcase their research as well as gain experience in presenting a paper to an international audience. International conferences provide the ideal platform for interaction and networking with national and international experts in the same research field.
The SANCOR International Travel Student Award is valued at a maximum of R50 000.
