The Institutional Research Development Programme

Call for Applications for 2009 funding
The Institutional Research Development Programme (IRDP) seeks to partner the higher education institutions in the development and enhancement of their research culture, environment, ethos and practice to become world class African universities in order to deliver in numbers and quality the skills required by the national system of innovation.

The IRDP Call for proposals for 2009 funding opens on 9 April 2008 and closes on 9 June 2008.

Please note that this is a closed call for applications within the following RNAs which have been approved in 2007. Please note that these are by invitation only.

    The RNA Advisory Committee:
    Nine people constitute the RNA Advisory Committee for all 83 RNAs. The Committee will meet once a year to evaluate the growth of the Niche Areas and advise accordingly. View the Committee

    IRDP Research Niche Area (RNA) Results:
    The NRF is delighted at the level of enthusiasm and interest shown by Higher Education Institutions to participate in the new Institutional Research Development Programme (IRDP), which is now open to all institutions. We wish to thank all institutions who heeded the call for submission of Research Niche Areas and also to congratulate those institutions whose RNA applications were successful. We will be in contact with individual institutions to communicate the feedback on both successful and unsuccessful RNAs in due course. We also wish to encourage and remind the successful applicants to proceed with online applications for project proposals.
