Dr Gansen Pillay, Deputy-CEO of RISA, has been appointed as the Deputy Chairperson of the International institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) Council in Austria.
Effective research and innovation partnerships with both academic and non-academic partners; and across borders are an increasingly strategic component in the internationalisation agenda of nations and regions. The implementation of African Union’s Agenda 2063, and its Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) Strategy (STISA 2024) will be further enhanced through strategic partnerships and collaborations within and beyond the region.
In response to the increasing demands being placed on higher education to produce graduates capable of meeting the requirements of employment, the National Research Foundation (NRF) in partnership with the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), Wilton Park, the UK Department for International Development (DFID) and the University of Pretoria hosted a high-level international seminar, under the theme: “Organizing for change: how can higher education meet the changing needs of employment?”.

The NRF's Knowledge Advancement and Support (KAS) Directorate, in collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology (DST), made a Ministerial visit to Tehran, Islamic Republic of Iran on 11-12 November 2017. The South African delegation was led by H.E. Minister Naledi Pandor who met with different Iranian Ministers including H.E. Prof Mansour Gholami, Minister of Science, Research and Technology, Vice President for Science and Technology, Minister of Health and Medical Education, and Minister of Energy.
