The NRF has been engaging with the research community and relevant stakeholders with an interest in education research regarding the way forward for the NRF to fund education research in South Africa.
A number of activities have been undertaken to date, which include:
- A "Status Quo Study of Education Research funded by the NRF"
- An "Audit and Interpretative Analysis of Education Research in South Africa - What has been learnt?" View the final report and the recommendations
- A position paper summarising research issues/directions proposed through the submission of concept papers by the research community
- Six regional workshops held in the Western Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, Gauteng, Limpopo, Eastern Cape and the Free State during October / November 2009
The outcomes of these workshops are reflected in the report by Mr Enver Motala on “Guidelines informing the NRF’s choices and priorities for Education Research Funding: A Report prepared pursuant to the NRF’s Regional Workshops held during October and November 2009”.
