The South African PhD Project is in the process of:
- developing an online interactive ‘one-stop-shop’ information clearinghouse for potential and current doctoral candidates;
- forming discipline specific doctoral student forums; and
- engaging in the marketing of doctoral training funding programmes; and
- actively pursuing donors and funders to increase the available funding for doctoral training in South African and abroad.
The South African PhD Project has also formed partnerships for international training of South African doctoral students. Current partnerships include the Vrije-NRF Desmond Tutu Doctoral Scholarship Programme, the Commonwealth Split-Site Doctoral Programme, and the Fulbright Program. The programme will also be offering skills development workshops for doctoral candidates.
