It is a collaborative project between the Knowledge Management and Evaluation Directorate and the Committee for Higher Education Librarians in South Africa to work together to promote and support ETD projects at all South African institutions. It will be governed by the NETD Steering Committee that shall collectively:
- Commission the creation of a national metadata repository and national ETD discovery portal to provide cross-archive services across all South African institutions;
- Support institutions with limited skills and resources to set up and manage ETD collections, by supplying training and hosting ETD management software.
