SADA Publishes 2001 Data Catalogue

SADA has released an electronic version of its third data catalogue, which is now available for download from this site. The catalogue, which is the official publication of the data holdings of SADA, is based on comprehensive study descriptions of the studies which are available from the archive.

The new data catalogue has been separated into the following ten subject groups, and ordered according to the most recent studies conducted: Censuses and household surveys; Omnibus and international studies; Demographic and health related studies; Substance abuse; Crime; Income and poverty; Inter-group relations; Labour and business; Education and training; and Political perceptions and attitudes.

A standard study description would typically include a title, a study number, the name(s) of the principal investigator(s) and depositor(s) of the study. Additional information is provided in the form of an abstract, keywords, geographic location of the study and date of data collection. The method and extent of data collection (that is, the number of cases, records and variables), as well as information related to the size and extent of machine-readable documentation and downloadable data are also made available.

In some instances, users of the catalogue may require a study by a particular researcher or on a specific subject matter, as opposed to browsing through the complete catalogue. To facilitate this, indexes have been created and integrated in the catalogue as an additional feature. The indexes comprise a list of keywords and an alphabetical list of data titles and principal investigators.

The file can be downloaded in any of the following formats:

Note that the PDF file contains a comprehensive list of bookmarks for all studies. Alternatively, users can obtain a hardcopy version of the catalogue from SADA.
