NRF Hosts Gender Policy Dialogue at Global Research Council

Research on gender in STI continues to show that there are fewer women faculty in STEM at higher education and research institutions. A number of reasons for this have been put forward including limited professional development opportunities provided to early career female researchers, limited institutional support for work-life balance targeted to families in science; and discriminatory practices in hiring, promotion and retention.

IAEA Director-General Visits iThemba LABS

The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Mr Yukiya Amano (front row 5th from the right in the picture) visited South Africa to attend the IRPA (International Radiation Protection Association) Conference in Cape Town. At the special invitation by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Mr Amano had the opportunity to undertake a tour of iThemba LABS facilities on 09 May 2016. During the visit, Mr Amano was treated to a warm reception by the newly appointed Director of iThemba Dr Faiҫal Azaiez (second from the right).
