Professor Malik Maaza, winner of the NSTF-GreenMatter Award at this year's NSTF-South32 Awards

iThemba LABS Researcher Wins NSTF Award

Professor Malik Maaza, Senior Research Scientists at iThemba LABS, won the NSTF-GreenMatter Award at the 20th NSTF-South32 Awards held on 28 June 2018. The award recognises an individual's or organisation's work towards biodiversity conservation, environmental sustainability and a greener economy over the last 5 to 10 years. The award was presented to Prof Maaza by the Minster of Science and Technology, Ms Mmamoloko Kubayi-Ngubane, who is also the event’s patron.

Minister Visits SAIAB at SciFest Africa

A very special space evolves each year at NRF-SAIAB's pop-up science centre, Water World, at Scifest Africa. 2018 was made extra special as we had the honour this year to be visited by the newly appointed Minister of the Department of Science and Technology, Mmamoloko Kubayi-Ngubane, and the Director-General, Dr Phil Mjwara, on Friday afternoon.
