South African Gender Studies Programmes: University of Transkei

The University of Trankei's BA Honours Gender Studies programme does not yet have its own web site. The NRF's Women-in-Research project is making this information available as a service to the research community; for further information about the programme please contact Wilna Venter-Mabama: Wilna@getafix.utr.ac.za.

DURATION: The BA Honours (Gender Studies) is a part-time two year programme.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: A degree of Bachelor from UNITRA or an equivalent from another institution. Entry will also be subject to regulation G.19 and A.6 as with other Honours candidates.

PROGRAMME: The degree consists of three core courses. Two electives should be chosen from the optional courses. Please note that the optional courses will vary according to availability of teaching staff, as well as according to the level of students' interest.

ASSESSMENT: Besides a written examination on each paper, continuous assessment of students will take place.

Paper 12: Contemporary Women's Fiction

Paper 13: Gender and the Law
