Hot Potatoes
Hot Potatoes is a highly-rated freeware software package, developed by the University of Victoria Language Centre, which allows non-programmers to generate javascript multiple-choice quizzes, short-answer quizzes, Cloze quizzes, crossword puzzles, jumbled-sentence exercises and matching/ordering exercises. While these are essentially self-tests, students' names and scores can be submitted to the instructor by e-mail.
