ANNOUNCEMENT OF SUCCESSFUL APPLICATIONS FOR THEDSI-NRF RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT GRANTS FOR THENEXT GENERATION OF ACADEMICS PROGRAMME (nGAP) FOR 2024

The Department of Science and Innovation (DSI) and the National Research Foundation (NRF) in partnership with the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) are pleased to announce the DSI-NRF Next Generation of Academics Programme (nGAP) Research Development Grant (RDG) awards for 2024. Successful applications for Doctoral and Postdoctoral nGAP scholars are listed in Table 1 and 2.

PLEASE NOTE:

  • If your name appears in the tables below, you have been awarded a nGAP research development grant for 2024.
  • Successful candidates will be able to view and download their award letters in May 2024, via NRF Connect against your application.
  • Once you have received the Conditions of Grant (CoG), please read through the written agreement carefully before accepting the award.
  • Once the award has been accepted, do notify the institutional Designated Authority (DA) to do the same.
  • The grant is intended to fund research costs and/or research proposal development in order to prepare the nGAP scholar to apply to the NRF for a competitive research grant that will be subjected to merit review.
  • Carry-over of unspent funds will only be permitted under extenuating circumstances, e.g., ill-health, and must be motivated for in writing. The grant will not be transferable to another grant-holder.
  • The NRF will monitor and evaluate the progress of the nGAP grant-holders at an individual, institutional and funding instrument level.
