Mr Bishen Singh
Introduction

Bishen Singh is the Group Executive: Finance and Supply Chain Management of the National Research Foundation and is responsible for the strategic management and leadership of the following functions:

  • Finance,
  • Supply Chain 
  • Knowledge Management 

The portfolio ensures that the NRF has the appropriate financial and business systems to meet the organisations mandate in an efficient and effective manner. The unit champions various legislative and compliance requirements as required of a public entity and is the custodian of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA).

Bishen serves on various key corporate structures of NRF, is an invited member of the Square Kilometer Array (SA) Steering Committee, member of DST CFO Forum, member of the SKA International Board Finance Sub-Committee and Council member of Durban University of Technology (DUT).

Experience

His experience in finance and administration spans across various sectors covering retail, shipping, postal, banking and research.

Qualifications:

His qualifications include B.Com (Accounting and Industrial Psychology), B. Com Honors (Accounting) from UNISA, Advanced Credit Diploma and Certified Associate in Banking (CAIB) from the Institute of Bankers, MBA (University of Pretoria) and the International Executive Development Programme (IEDP) from WITS.

He is a member of the Institute of Directors (IOD SA), Institute of Public Finance & Auditors and a Certified Associate Member – Institute of Bankers.
