DHET Subsidy

The Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) implements the Research Output Policy (2015), which provides a framework for the evaluation and subsidy allocation for research outputs produced by South African public higher education institutions. All public higher education institutions annually submit their subsidy funding claims, for research outputs in the form of publications, to the DHET. In addition the DHET also rewards institutions for their annual research masters and research doctoral graduations. DHET provides the NRF with aggregated research output subsidy data for all higher education institutions.
