1st A-Rating Professor Sandra Liebenberg Faculty of LawStellenbosch University Professor Sandra Liebenberg is a Distinguished Professor and holder of the HF Oppenheimer Chair in Human Rights Law at Stellenbosch University. An admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa, she started her career as a public interest lawyer. After obtaining her LLM at the University of Essex she was involved in the drafting of South Africa’s Bill of Rights. She obtained her LLD from the University of the Witwatersrand. Her research has focused on the implications of international and comparative models for incorporating socio-economic rights as justiciable rights in the Constitution, as well as on law and policy development. She served on the UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights and currently serves on the editorial boards of journals such as the Human Rights Law Review. She is also co-organiser of the International Course on the Justiciability of Economic, Social and Cultural Rights. She is currently Chair of the Drafting Committee of a collaborative project to prepare Legal Principles and Guidelines on the Human Rights of Future Generations.
