Professor Qingguo Wang

Prof Qingguo Wang’s research is in the fields of Automation and Artificial Intelligence, focusing on modelling, estimation, prediction, control and optimisation with a wide range of applications including industrial and environmental processes, energy and defence systems, medical technology and financial engineering. Prof Wang holds a PhD in Engineering from Zhejiang University. He joined the University of Johannesburg as a Distinguished Professor in 2015 and as Distinguished Visiting Professor in 2021. Since 2020, he has been Chair Professor at Beijing Normal University, China. He received the prize for the most influential paper of the journal Control Theory and Applications in 2014; was on Stanford University’s list of the World’s Top 2% Scientists and was among SciVal – Top 500 authors in Africa from 2015 to 2020. He is currently the deputy Editor-in-Chief of ISA Transactions and co-holds five patents in the USA and Singapore. His research outputs over the last eight years include one book and 140 peer-reviewed journal articles, receiving over 21 000 citations with H-index of 78.
