Ms Maricélle BotesSchool of Law North-West University, Social Sciences, Humanities and Law Ms Maricélle Botes is currently pursuing her PhD in Law and Development. Her research focuses on how spatial planning and land use management by-laws can enhance urban climate resilience in South African secondary cities. This has resulted in new insights into the domains of climate change law, urban law, planning law, and local government law and it contributes to the formulation of policies and regulations intended to mitigate and adapt to the impacts of climate change in urban areas, leading to more sustainable and climate-resilient cities. She has several co authored research outputs, including scholarly articles, book chapters, and research reports, and is the Editor-in-Chief of the official SARChI:CLES Newsletter, CLES InPress. She also presented at 11 international and national conferences and won 1st and 3rd prizes for best presentations at two of these conferences.
