Social Sciences, Humanities, Law Mr Sandile Ntethelelo GumbiDepartment of Social Sciences University of KwaZulu-Natal Mr Sandile Ntethelelo Gumbi is working on a study which is considered groundbreaking in the field of Afrocentric social work. It explores how social work supervision could be Africanised and the possible ways of having Afrocentric social work supervision. Supervision has been a subject of study for many decades and has been at the centre of social work practice as it exerts its unique significance in the profession. Thus, Mr Gumbi’s study is centred on the Afrocentric paradigm and seeks to influence social work policy, practice and education in ushering Afrocentric practices that are coherent with the African context. He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Zululand, and his Master’s in Social Sciences at the University of KwaZulu-Natal where he is currently a final-year PhD student. Mr Gumbi has published two articles in peerreviewed journals. He collaborated with other PhD candidates on an article that is soon to be published by the Journal for Social Development in Africa, and currently has four more articles under review at different journals.
