Lahlane Malema is a managing director at Malema Attorneys where she practises as a commercial lawyer. She holds B. Proc and LLB (Hons) degrees from the University of the North and was admitted as Attorney in 2001. She practised in various practice areas including corporate law, commercial law, corporate governance, property law, civil law, accidents, injury on duty and corporate secretariat. She has established an extensive track record as legal counsel, independent chairman, independent board member and company secretary in both the private and public sector including state-owned entities, metro municipality and community trust. She worked as practising attorney for three years at the State Attorney’s offices in Pretoria and Johannesburg before taking up the position as Company Secretary and Senior Legal Advisor at the Medical Schemes for Correctional Services (MEDCOR) and the Agricultural Research Council (ARC). She spent 9 years as Executive Manager responsible for corporate governance, compliance, legal advisory, corporate secretariat at the Trans Caledon Tunnel Authority (TCTA) before establishing her own legal practice, Malema Attorneys.

She currently serves on a number of boards and committees including the Bid Specifications, Audit & Risk, Finance & Investment, Project Development & Funding, Safety and Health as well as Investigations, Disciplinary and Mediation committees at the South African Forestry Company Ltd (SAFCOL), Social Housing Regulatory Authority (SHRA), the Legal Practice Council, the Weskoppies Psychiatric Hospital, Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality. She is a member of the Legal Practice Council (LPC), the Institute of Directors South Africa (IoDSA) and The Ethics lnstitute.

Ms Lahlane Malema serves as the Chairperson of the Board Procurement Committee and a member of the Audit & Risk Committee.
