Announcement of Successful applications for Masters and Doctoral Scholarships linked to Centres of Excellence grants – 2023

The National Research Foundation (NRF) and the Department of Science and Innovation (DSI) are pleased to announce the provisional awards for the DSI-NRF Centres of Excellence Scholarships for both Masters and Doctoral Studies in 2023. The awards have been made according to the strategic objectives of the CoE Funding Instrument, prevailing postgraduate funding policies, and the available budget. The list of successful applications for CoE Masters and Doctoral Scholarships studies are listed in the below.

PLEASE NOTE:

  • If your name appears in the tables below, you have been provisionally successful in receiving an award for 2023, provided you meet the minimum requirements according to the NRF Postgraduate Scholarship Call of 2022, Framework Document and Conditions of Grant (or contract signed with the CoE).
  • Should you not meet the relevant requirements for Full Cost of Study (FCS) or Partial Cost of Study (PCS) funding, the NRF reserves the right not to award the scholarship.
  • Should you not meet the relevant requirements for Full Cost of Study (FCS) funding, the NRF reserves the right to change your scholarship to Partial Cost of Study (PCS) funding.
  • Successful candidates will be able to view and download their award letters from 23 December 2023, via NRF Online Submission System (tracking of application).
  • Read through the Conditions of Grant carefully before accepting the award.
  • All signed and completed documentation must be forwarded to the NRF via your University Postgraduate Funding Office or Research Office or Financial Aid Office.
  • Funds will only be released once the completed documentation has been received by the NRF.
  • Awards not taken up Four (4) months after awarding will be automatically cancelled, unless otherwise approved by the NRF.
  • If your name does not appear in any of the table below nor other lists of published outcomes for 2023 NRF Postgraduate Scholarships you have not been awarded a scholarship for 2023. However, please do engage your relevant university office and/or the relevant CoE for confirmation and further details.
  • Feedback to unsuccessful candidates will only be provided between February and March in 2023.
  • The NRF provides feedback to unsuccessful candidates via NRF Online Submission System (tracking of application).

The NRF reserves the right to withdraw and cancel the scholarship should the applicant fail to meet all necessary conditions and/or requirements as stated in the NRF Postgraduate Scholarships Call of 2022, Framework document and Conditions of Grant.
