Announcement of Successful Applications for the DSI-NRF General Doctoral Scholarships for 2022 Academic year

The National Research Foundation (NRF) is pleased to announce the provisional awards for the DSI-NRF Postgraduate Scholarships in 2022. The awards have been made according to the strategic objectives of the doctoral and masters funding instruments, the DSI-NRF Postgraduate Funding Policy and the available budget. Successful applications for DSI-NRF Postgraduate Scholarships are listed in Tables 1 and 2. Candidates are either funded at Full Cost of Study (FCS) or Partial Cost of Study (PCS).

These awards are made under the following programmes:

  • Competitive Programme for Rated Researchers (CPRR);
  • African Coelacanth Ecosystem Programme (ACEP);
  • Human and Social Dynamics (HSD)
  • African Origins Platform (AOP);
  • Marine and Coastal Research (MCR);
  • South African National Antarctic Programme (SANAP);
  • Global Change Grand Challenge
  • Competitive support for Unrated Researchers (CSUR)
  • Research and Technology Fund (RTF).

Please note:

  • If your name appears in the table below, you have been provisionally successful in receiving an award for 2022, provided that you meet the minimum requirements according to the NRF Postgraduate Scholarships Call for 2022, the framework document and the Conditions of Grant.
  • Successful candidates will be able to view and download their award letters via the NRF Online Submission System under tracking of application.
  • Read the Conditions of Grant document carefully before accepting the award.
  • All signed and completed documentation must be forwarded to the NRF via your University Postgraduate Funding Office or Research Office or Financial Aid Office.
  • Should you not meet the relevant requirements for FCS or PCS funding, the NRF reserves the right not to award the scholarship.
  • Should you not meet the relevant requirements for FCS funding, the NRF reserves the right to change your scholarship to PCS funding.
  • Funds will only be released once the completed documentation has been received by the NRF.
  • Awards not taken up three (3) months after the awarding will be automatically cancelled, unless otherwise approved by the NRF.
  • If your name does not appear in the Tables below, you have not been awarded a scholarship for 2022.
  • Feedback to unsuccessful candidates will be provided by March 2022.
  • The NRF provides feedback to unsuccessful candidates via the NRF Online Submission System under tracking of application.

The NRF reserves the right to withdraw and cancel the scholarship should the applicant fail to meet all necessary conditions and/or requirements as stated in the NRF Postgraduate Scholarships Call for 2022, the Framework document and the Conditions of Grant.
