wpadmin Application Outcomes December 20, 2023 The National Research Foundation (NRF) is pleased to announce the Scarce Skills Postdoctoral Fellowship awards for 2024. These fellowships are aimed at promoting research and research capacity development in all knowledge fields of research, with priority given to Scarce Skills areas. Fellowships are open to bona fide South African citizens and permanent residents only.The value of the Freestanding, Innovation and Scarce Skills (FISS) and grantholder-linked Postdoctoral Fellowships will increase as noted in Table 1 below. Note: These increased values will only take effect from the 2024 academic year for the new cohort that will be starting their Postdoctoral Fellowship in the 2024 academic year and the list of successful applicants are listed in Table 2 below. Continuing postdoctoral fellowships that started in 2023 and are in their second or third year of funding will still utilise the old values and will not have their fellowships adjusted and their conditions of grant will still apply.
