HFSP Fellowship Program Proposals

South Africa, through the National Research Foundation (NRF) and the South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC), serves as a member of the International Human Frontier Science Program (HFSP).

As part of this membership, South African researchers, Fellows and students are eligible to apply for HFSP grant opportunities via the HFSP website.

The HFSP Fellowship program supports proposals for frontier, potentially transformative research in area of the life sciences. Applications for high-risk projects are particularly encouraged. The projects should be interdisciplinary in nature and should challenge existing paradigms by using novel approaches and techniques. Scientifically, they should address an important problem or a barrier to progress in the field.

Deadlines:

• Submission of a Letter of Intent by 13:00 (Eastern Time US) on 14 May, 2024
• HFSP will notify Fellowship applicants between mid-August and end of August as to whether their Letter of Intent was selected or not for submission of a Full Proposal.
• Submission of Full Proposals for invited applicants by 13:00 (Eastern Time US) on 26 September 26, 2024
