wpadmin NRF in the News June 4, 2024 Members of the media are invited to the South African Institute for Aquatic Biodiversity (NRF-SAIAB) Panel Discussion entitled Changing the tides in Ocean research, through innovation, research and partnerships, where the Joint Marine Laboratories Programme(JML) Principal Investigators will discuss how four historically disadvantaged institutions (HDIs) are transforming the South African ocean research space through the DSI/NRF-SAIAB funded Joint Marine Laboratories (JML) programme. A five-year initiative of the Department of Science and Innovation (DSI) and the National Research Foundation (NRF), and implemented through the NRF-SAIAB, the JML is intended to bolster marine science research at four HDIs, i.e. Walter Sisulu University (WSU); University of Zululand (UNIZULU); University of the Western Cape (UWC); and University of Fort Hare (UFH). State-of-the-art laboratories were launched at the institutions between 2022 and 2024.
