NRF Hosting the first AJ-CORE Researchers’ Workshop, 15-17 February 2023

AJ-CORE is a partnership between the NRF and the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) which aims to support joint research and innovation projects in designated fields of science between researchers from Japan, South Africa and the 17 African countries whose ministries and granting councils are a participating member in the Science Granting Councils Initiative (SGCI). The workshop brought together all the funded AJ-CORE consortia research projects and the eight funding agencies who are currently supporting these projects. (i.e. NRF South Africa, JST Japan, FONRID Burkina Faso, MESRI Senegal, DRST Botswana, NRF Kenya, FNI Mozambique and MTHE Sierra Leone). This workshop aimed at providing a platform in which to build and connect knowledge to increase the impact of research, facilitate cross-project collaboration, explore new development paths, and strengthen the AJ-CORE community. The workshop included capacity strengthening sessions on developing Theories of Change and Impact Pathways which were conducted in partnership with the Dutch Research Council (NWO).
