wpadmin NRF in the NewsPress Release May 25, 2021 The National Research Foundation (NRF) extends congratulations to Professor Jeffrey Mphahlele, who has been appointed as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research and Innovation at the North-West University. Prof Mphahlele holds a doctoral degree in Medical Virology, master’s in virology, BSc honours degree and degree in microbiology. A C1 NRF-rated researcher since 2017, Professor Mphahlele is known as an active and expert member of the scientific community. He currently serves on a number of governance and advisory structures including; the Ministerial Advisory Committee on COVID-19 vaccines in the Ministry of Health since 2020 and as the Vice President for Research at the South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC) since October 2014. He has also been elected as member of the Academy of Science of South Africa (ASSAf). Further portraying an outstanding commitment to his work, Prof Mphahlele co-founded the South African Vaccination and Immunisation Centre in 2005, and was the head of the organisation from 2005 until 2014. He has also played a key role in the development of next generation scientists through the training, supervising and mentoring of several Post-Doctoral, Doctoral and Master Students.
