Call for applications: Summer schools 2024 in Germany for DAAD In-Country/In-Region scholarship holders

Call for applications: Summer schools 2024 in Germany for DAAD In-Country/In-Region scholarship holders

You are currently enjoying a scholarship by the DAAD, in the frame of the In-Country / In-Region programme. As a special offer for you, the DAAD and five German universities will be organising five different summer schools in 2024 to give you the opportunity to come to Germany for a training course during your Master/ PhD studies.

The e-mail contains all the important information and you will find many answers to possible questions. If you require further information on funding, detailed information can be found in each of the calls.

Content:

Each summer school will be a high-quality interdisciplinary training course, consisting of teaching modules on the selected academic subject, interactive workshop sessions as well as training in research methods.

The programme is open to applicants from all In-Country and In-Region scholarship regions, i.e. from Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East – so, on top, it is a great opportunity to meet with peers from all over the world.

All participants who successfully complete the summer school will receive a certificate of participation from the German university.

Please find the exact dates of each summer school and links to apply below in this email.

Eligibility:

The summer schools are designed as an exclusive additional offer for the DAAD’s In-Country and In-Region programme, so in order to apply, you have to be an active scholarship holder as of 1 January 2024 (if your scholarship expires before or starts after that date, participation is not possible).

Some schools are open to participants from all academic fields, others are limited to certain disciplines. Details can be found in each call for applications.

Kindly note that applying for and attending one of the summer schools must not compromise your regular study programme commitments or duration. This should be considered especially by those applicants that have reached the final year of their scholarship. Attending a summer school will not be accepted as justification for extension of your current In-Country / In-Region scholarship.

Please be aware that it is not possible to bring family members along with you and that we do not fund private accommodation, only the accommodation offered by the universities.

You may submit applications for up to two summer schools in 2024. However, participation will be possible in only one of them.

Please note that you are not eligible to apply for participating in one of the summer schools in 2024 if you already have joined one of the In-Country / In-Region programme’s summer schools in the last years.

Applications:

For all summer schools, applications have to be submitted online via the host university’s website. Likewise, please direct all questions on the calls to the course coordinators at the host university!

The application websites will open today. The application deadline for all summer schools is 1 March 2024, 23:59 Central European Time (CET) sharp.

The contact details / e-mail addresses of the university coordinator can be found in the respective call.

The host university is responsible for the selection of the participants. Selection will be based upon the qualified judgement of an independent selection committee of professors and training course coordinators, upon criteria of academic fit and professional merit.

The programme aims to achieve a fair gender balance amongst the participants. Further, it is foreseen that the group represents a balance of Master students and PhD candidates.

People with disability are explicitly encouraged to apply! Should you have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the coordinators at the university or the team at the DAAD.
