wpadmin NRF in the News July 18, 2025 The National Research Foundation (NRF), in partnership with the University of Johannesburg (UJ), will host the Global Network for the Economics of Learning, Innovation, and Competence Building Systems (Globelics) International Conference 2025. Aimed at global scholars, policymakers, and innovation practitioners, the conference will explore the theme of Innovation for Sustainable and Inclusive Development to Build Resilience for Global Challenges. The conference will take place from 24-26 November 2025, in Pretoria. This major international event is co-organised in collaboration with the UJ’s DSTI-NRF Trilateral Research Chair in Transformative Innovation, the 4IR and Sustainable Development, along with the Tshwane University of Technology, Human Sciences Research Council, and the University of the Witwatersrand. The 2025 event offers a dynamic programme of keynote speeches, peer-reviewed paper sessions, thematic panels, and networking opportunities focused on tackling inequality, climate change, and digital transformation, particularly in the Global South. It also forms part of a broader national agenda that aligns with South Africa’s G20 presidency and connects with Science Forum South Africa (SFSA). The conference will cover the following topics: Innovation and inequality reduction Climate crisis and sustainable innovation Geopolitical disruptions and resilient innovation systems Digital transformation and data infrastructure Innovation policy for global development goals Innovation and capabilities in firms and economies Theoretical and methodological advances in innovation and development studies Multi-level innovation systems Interested participants are invited to register and participate in the discussions.
