NRF Youth Month 2024: Chaboke Prince Malaka

This year’s Youth Month is significant as the NRF celebrates 25 Years of Research, Innovation, Impact and Partnerships. These are the stories of the youth who have not only been impacted by the NRF but who also have an impact in their own spaces – and beyond! We thank all participants for sharing their stories with us.

Mr Chaboke Prince Malaka is a Tutor at the Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment at the University of the Witwatersrand; and an NRF-SAASTA/Power98.7 FM science journalist. At the time of recording, he was awaiting the results of his Master’s degree.

For his PhD, he will delve into Science Communication. He would like to bridge the gap between ‘science and people’, especially in marginalised communities, to help them better understand what science is and how it affects our lives.

He received funding from the NRF for his Honours and (provisionally) for his PhD studies.
