wpadmin Non-NRF Opportunities June 13, 2023 The South African Quantum Technologies Initiative (SA QuTI), (funded by the Department of Science and Technology), has two-year funding for four Emerging Leaders, valued at R1 000 000 per annum each. An Emerging Leader is defined as a young, recently graduated South African with a PhD and is, (or is guaranteed to be) employed on a permanent or contract basis for the duration of the award. Your research area must fall into one of the three SA QuTI flagship pillars: Quantum Communication; Quantum Computing; Quantum Sensing/Metrology/ Imaging. This call requires a minimum co-funding of R500 000 per annum from the host university or laboratory – (in-kind will also count as co-investment). Emerging Leaders are expected to either strengthen an existing quantum node (UKZN, SU, CPUT, Wits, UniZulu), or help to establish a new node.
